Dr. Yash Mehta
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
WHY I BECAME A DOCTOR OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE
My journey into osteopathic medicine was shaped by a deeply rooted desire: to extend the same compassionate health care to others that once helped my own family. I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of healthcare professionals who not only resolved pain but also embraced patients as family. I discovered the unique perspective of osteopathic medicine—an approach that not only prioritizes the alleviation of symptoms but also seeks to understand the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit – garnering a holistic approach and deep appreciation for the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
As a “one-stop shop” physiatrist, Dr. Mehta is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. With 13 years of education, training, research, and medical experience, he completed an interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, which ranks Top 5 in the nation. He treats every aspect of a patient – mind, body, spirit, and soul. With a philosophy to simplify the complex, he eases the patient’s concerns and helps them feel more comfortable working together towards restoring overall health and function.
Through experience with his own family’s recoveries, Dr. Mehta has seen firsthand how the body can heal itself. As a result, he pursued the field of osteopathic medicine to help others in need the way others helped his loved ones. His primary objective is to make patients feel more comfortable as they navigate the uncertainty and unknown circumstances behind their pain.
Providing a holistic approach, Dr. Mehta looks beyond the pain to determine the root cause of the issue. Working synergistically with VSI’s interdisciplinary team of experts, Dr. Mehta tailors treatment plans to suit each patient’s goals. His expertise is in interventional spine techniques and sports medicine, utilizing an array of non-operative solutions to provide pain solutions. He is fluent in the following modalities of healing: Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), ultrasound-guided spine and joint injections, EMG / nerve conduction studies, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), Botox®, and other PM&R treatments for headaches and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). He empowers his patients to ask questions and understand the details of their treatment.
Dr. Mehta firmly believes that the body has the innate ability to regulate and heal itself. He is there to support and encourage the patient along their natural path to recovery but is willing to provide a little boost along the way. The ultimate goal is to restore a patient’s functionality, allowing them to get back to doing the things they enjoy most.
During a patient’s initial consultation with Dr. Mehta, he will take a “deep dive” into their health and pain history and then perform an in-depth physical exam to assess the patient’s current functional status and decipher what may be causing their pain. After assessing the complete picture, he then presents treatment recommendations and guidance along with any questions or concerns they may have. By incorporating an extra touch of divinity in each consultation, he sees past someone as “just another patient” and shows the utmost respect and patience as he works with them to improve overall health and provide a better quality of life!
Dr. Mehta speaks fluent English, Gujarati, Hindi, and conversational Spanish.
