Melanie Gonzaga

Melanie has over 20 years experience in caring for patients. Her experience includes tenures at skilled nursing facilities, assisted living /nursing home centers, home health, orthopedic, and sports medicine settings.

A native of Virginia Beach VA, Melanie began her career as a Physical Therapy Assistant in 1997. In 2002, she received her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Neumann College in Aston, PA. She then received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in 2021.

Melanie completed extensive training with the Institute of Physical Art and earned her certification in Functional Manual Therapy in 2017. She enjoys working with all age groups presenting with simple to more complex presentations. She addresses the body as a whole, utilizing hands-on techniques with tailored exercise programs to improve function. She has worked extensively with professional and amateur athletes, martial artists, runners, weekend warriors, and fellow gym enthusiasts. She is passionate about helping women excel in the gym and eliminating barriers to their athletic pursuits; especially for pre, peri, and post menopausal women.

Melanie is currently an American Physical Therapy Association credentialed clinical instructor. She is a member of the orthopedic and sports sections of the APTA, and has trained physical therapists in the Institute of Physical Art’s residency program for the past 4 years.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, working out, and relaxing with sewing, quilting, cross stitching, and paper crafts.
